Abstract
This study in-depth explores the recovery process experiences of 11 male alcoholism recoverers residing in the therapeutic community. The study focused on the structure of the process of recovery from alcoholism in the context of the therapeutic community, especially the interactions. The researcher has adopted Charmaz's constructivist basis theory method, and the data were constructed by conducting in-depth interviews. The results of the study are as follows. 142 categories in initial coding, 20 categories in focus coding, ten categories in theoretical coding were derived: reconstruction of existence as a recoverer, a sense of short-lived efficacy, overcoming in the name of a family, energy exchange in an open system, enjoyment of a little joy, future opportunity ability, self-directed, abstinence from alcohol training, intuitive ability, mutual supportive learning, and great resignation. Participants in the study entered the therapeutic community either voluntarily or on the other hand, but they developed into community members by fulfilling the standards and order of the therapeutic community, and obligations assigned to them, and this process led to the creation of will of abstinence from alcohol and reinforcement of ability. The therapeutic community can be concluded as a field of qualitative warfare that builds the foundation for self-reconstruction that can move back to the family and society. Based on the results of the study, the researcher discussed altruism, revitalization of responsibility, establishment of the foundation for normalization of the treatment community, and the efficacy of abstinence from alcohol.
